I came to Manchester from Spain over ten years ago after finishing my degree in Biochemistry. I started to work at Allingham House ten years ago. I was looking for a full-time position to build my confidence to pass an interview in English. Allingham House was the perfect place to start, the residents loved talking and that gave me the opportunity not just to improve my English skills but learn first-hand everything related to British History and Culture.
Thanks to the multicultural environment at work, I have now learnt many things about other countries from around the world. This makes me realise how important is to celebrate cultures, creating an inclusive and richer environment where everyone feels welcome, working and living, caring for each other.
There are so many things that I love about my role as Lifestyle Coordinator. The most important one is the joy that you bring to people, their smiles and laughs are priceless.
Another thing that I love is how creative you can be organising activities for the residents.
There's a whole world of possibilities, from bingo to live music, pantomimes, to trips into the city to visit museums, art galleries and attend concerts. I like to make every day completely different to the next.
Thanks to the support that MMCG has given to Allingham House, providing, and implementing successful projects, the residents have benefited directly in so many ways. I would especially like to mention Just Bowl. The people here enjoy playing and making teams with other residents, members of staff and families that join us. Furthermore, physical exercise is very important to keep our residents fit and thanks to Oomph Sessions and the Exercises Bikes our residents keep active by having fun.
