I joined MMCG as a hospitality assistant, went to reception and started doing care alongside my reception duties. It was then that I realized my passion for care and looking after the well-being of others. I decided to further my career and completed my Care Practitioner course and then was put forward by MMCG for TNA apprenticeship and qualified as a registered NA in 2021.
My greatest achievement is expanding on all my qualities to become the best nurse I can be. Everyday I work at Manorhey and care for my residents is an achievement for me, when I go home knowing I have fulfilled and made their day happier filled with my best possible care, knowing that they are safe.
Manorhey has a positive culture and an ethos of care built around our residents, their families and staff. It breathes a culture of respect and trust through effective communication where everyone is respected and is listened to regardless of their role and responsibilities. It has a friendly atmosphere, the staff and residents are like a second family.
My manager, deputy manager and the nurses have been very supportive with my professional journey, offering me advice, help and support when required. They have also provided learning and kept me motivated.
I love being able to help and support people with their everyday tasks but also to recognize when a resident is deteriorating and ensure that the correct support is arranged timely. Observing residents to be settled and happy is extremely rewarding.
Qualifying as a Nurse associate and now completing the next stage of my journey to be a qualified nurse will help benefit the quality of care and well-being of our residents at Manorhey Care Centre.
