I have always being involved in care, from looking after my grandparents as I was growing up and so on, I knew from early age that I wanted to work in care. I have known Tina Darbyshire the deputy manager at Alexandra Court all my life and I used to see her going to work every morning and seeing how much she was enjoying her work, motivated me to join the team here.
I have gained qualifications up to my level 3 prior starting working at Alexandra Court. During my time here I have worked as a senior for four years, during that period I further developed my knowledge in medication, became a first aider, a 'moving and handling' train the trainer, fire trainer and most recently became a 'day maker'.
Working at Alexandra Court is like having a second family, it’s a nice place to work where all have a voice and we are all valued for the person that they are and what they bring to the team.
Making the residents and families happy, to get to know them and to support them to embrace life is my favourite thing about working in the Care sector at Alexandra Court.
The most rewarding part of my career at MMCG is having been recognised for my commitment to the residents, families and colleagues alike. I really enjoy working with people all life stages, by assisting them on their journey and even the grieving process with families and colleague. It’s rewarding to know that you have supported a resident to fulfil their wishes on their life journey.
