World Parkinson's Day

Yesterday was World Parkinson's Day, so in aid of this Chartwell Manor turned blue for the day.

Thanks to the local community who donated and purchased the amazing cup cakes that our talented chef Jinfu baked.  The team managed to raise £150 in just one hour outside the local Sainsburys store! Afterwards. everyone gathered in The Bistro for afternoon tea with some interesting facts shared on Parkinson's for us all to gain knowledge...

Live entertainment

Willowbank had a fantastic afternoon with entertainment from Emma. She sang all kinds of songs from the years gone by, which got everyone singing and dancing along.

Live entertainment is always fun for the people living in our homes as memories of certain songs are brought back and remind them of special times.

World Waffle Day

Some of those living at Bowerfield Court had a delightful time celebrating International Waffle Day!
Brian was in charge of making the delicious homemade waffles with the assistance of our chef Brenden, while Glenys and Diane had the choice of many different toppings to accompany these.

Mother's Day

Chartwell Manor had a great time celebrating Mother's day. Friends and family were invited for cream tea and then everyone danced the afternoon away. Thank you to the wonderful entertainer who sang songs of all kinds which everyone sang along to.

Claremont Manor Open Day

Claremont Manor hosted their wonderful open day. It was filled with a number of fun activities and taster sessions to give the local community an understanding of what they have to offer and the incredible care that will be available once open.

Thanks to all who attended.

Easter at Willowdene

Willowdene had a great arts and crafts session making Easter Bonnets. This is something they do every year, holding a competition for best hat, with prizes for the winners.

Good luck to everyone creating Easter Bonnets!

Happy Valentine's Day

Water Royd care home celebrated Valentine's Day in style... they enjoyed a singalong and had strawberry and marshmallow skewers (covered in chocolate, of course!). Everyone was then treated to a Valentine's gift, and had the opportunity to take part in a Valentine's photoshoot.  The images turned out great. After, they finished off the day with a nice cup of tea and reminisced on past Valentine's Days.

Pancake Day

Glennie House celebrated pancake day with a special visit from 'Get Stacked Pancake Van'. Everyone enjoyed their tasty treat, followed by an afternoon of singing and dancing with live entertainment from singer Charlie and his guitar.

Chinese New Year

Chartwell Manor celebrated Chinese New Year with their chef Jinfu. He spoke to the people living with us about Chinese traditions, and taught everyone how to use chopsticks. This was followed by a quiz, games, and lots of fun with family and friends.

Chinese New Year

Celebrating cultures is a huge part of Abingdon Court and this month they focused on the Chinese New Year! 🎉

One of our Nurses Mei shared the importance of her culture to those that live with us! She made delicious Chinese dumplings for all to try which went down a treat. The kitchen staff also got involved and created a beautifully authentic menu which tantalised everyone's taste buds. Whilst the Lifestyle team pulled out all the stops with a quiz, fact finder, music and dances to really make those that live with us feel they were in China!
