Wedding Breakfast at Oaklands
November's challenge was to enhance our dining experience in the home. We sat down with our residents and asked them about some of their most favourite dining experiences over the years and one theme which came out a few times was weddings our residents had attended.
We thought this would be a brilliant idea for our residents to attend a wonderful wedding breakfast at Oaklands.
Throughout the month we started making artificial topiary trees for the table centrepieces and a bridal bouquet. Both sides of the house have taken part in the preparation of these and our arts and crafts sessions included chats and singalongs too.
We also held a balloon blowing up session, again with chat and music to create our balloon arch.
We gave our Chef a challenge to enhance our Thursday menu and picked our favours from the selection to create an enhanced three course meal prepared by kitchen and made available to all residents. Our gorgeous wedding cake was baked and dressed in-house with colours decided by the residents and of course no wedding is complete without wedding invites which we sent out a few weeks ago to our residents, include residents from Acorn.
We converted our dining area into a wedding venue on the day and this has been such an amazing experience for our residents and Oaklands as a whole.
We have had so much fun enjoying the build up to the big day and of course the day itself.
A big shout out to our fabulous chef who created a wonderful menu for our wedding guests last week. We also had a home (made inhouse) baked wedding cake, created and skilfully decorated by Melissa. We’re so lucky to have such talented people at Oaklands
