Visit to the Bolton Arms for Rosedale Residents

The Bolton Arms in Redmire have started reaching out to people in the local community and invited two of our residents for a senior citizens lunch.

We attended the first lunch club and they hope that it will take off. The beauty of the lunch club is that it gives our residents the chance to meet people from different villages. We met the owners Steph and Martin Bellerby whilst we were there, and they have only been in the village since October 2019 when they came back from Abu Dhabi.  Martin and Steph are originally from Selby where they had previously owned a restaurant.

The actual idea came from one of our residents’ wives as after her husband passed away, she felt that a lot of our residents who knew her would love the experience to come and visit her when she was at work. Gill McGregor still works as front of house in the pub and her daughter Karen is one of the chefs.

We had a great day out lots of chatting, eating and drinking. The residents had a menu to choose from but decided on fish, chips and mushy peas. The fish is delivered fresh from Whitby every day and cooked in a special gluten free batter and was so light and crispy.  Our residents would recommend it.

We wish the Bolton Arms the best of luck and have been invited back in February and March so great plans to look forward to.
