Valentine's Week at White Rose Lodge
February brought with it Valentines and this year we decided to have a weeks worth of Valentines related activities.
We began the week with a Valentines bingo which incorporated a large heart to pop the prizes out. Valentines day commenced with a Christian Fellowship session where a short film was shared in regards to the history of Saint Valentines. The prayers were of thanks, especially for all of our loved ones present and those departed. This led to a reflective time where the residents were encouraged and invited to write messages of love and thanks to their loved ones. The messages were written on heart shaped card. These were subsequently gathered together and prayed over and placed onto our Valentines tree.
Energy and excitement filled the room with 50's and 60's love songs playing as a game of heart-shaped pass the parcel was carried out. Residents were transported back to childhood memories. Giggles and smiles were shared in regards to the notion of pass the parcel and unwrapping the prize. With every unwrap there was a prize to be won, meaning all participants were winners. As pass the parcel drew to a close a game of balloon ‘volleyball’ filled the room with laughter and evoked enthusiasm to hit the balloon. A number of residents having remarked they had genuinely enjoyed their afternoon.
Valentines day came to a close with Rob Isles a favourite of the entertainers among the residents and the sharing of valentines chocolate love bugs and pink lemonade.
