Social Distancing Entertainment
The summer sunshine arrived spectacularly in June here at White Rose Lodge. And what better way to appreciate the beauty of the seaside coast and the floral delights our garden has to offer, than gathering with fellow residents. We engaged in entertainment supplied by the London Theatre Company who performed ‘Summer Holiday Abroad’ in our garden overlooking Bridlington North Beach.
Adhering to social distancing measures and being mindful to the heat, residents wore their sun-hats under parasols with sunscreen sitting two metres from where the stage had been set which lucky for us, their was no sign of wind to interfere with the stage backdrop. Beginning with a well-known favourite ‘Its a Jolly Holiday’ from Mary Poppins, we were transported all over the world, visiting Las Vegas to meet Elvis Presley, New York to see Frank Sinatra and many many more. The entertainers engaged the crowd, inviting them to join in with dancing and singing along. The performance also had a humorous factor which gained many laughs all-round. The entertainers were sublime and lifted many residents spirits this June. The residents took in the entertainment whilst sipping on ice-lollies throughout the performance. Not only did our residents appreciate the performance but we gained many a passer-by stop to listen and clap along. Overall the weather and the entertainment could not have been better. With the temperature soaring that week we also invited Wally’s ice-cream van along so that residents and staff could enjoy a traditional 99 ice-cream which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
