Off To The Races!

We were given a run for our money recently as we all placed our bets on our favourite horses on the Grand National. We clutched our betting strips, praying for a Gold Strike on the winning horse - leaving the unlucky losers red as rum.

The more competitive of the group could be mistaken for Men o' War in desperation for that lucky prize. Prizes consisted of chocolates or a (Sea) biscuit, as bets today were on the house and just for fun. That's enough horsing around for one day...

We thought the Grand National was a wonderful excuse to gather everyone together and enjoy the races from the lounge. The people who lived at Abingdon filled out the betting slips to choose their horse. After the race, many enjoyed playing a Grand National board game, an in-house race to the finish line with a chance to win even more prizes. You could certainly feel the rush of excitement and adrenaline as the horses galloped their final furlongs.
