Lest We Forget
In preparation of Remembrance Day, those living with us at Wyndham Hall enjoyed crafting poppies and spending time talking about the different roles they did during the war. One of our residents who is 100 years old was in the land army and generously shared her experiences with the group.
Many also discussed how frightening it was when the air raid sirens went off and what the procedure was for getting to the shelters. Unfortunately on some occasions, they didn’t always make it inside in time, and had to hide under a table and pray.
Our own remembrance service was conducted by Reverend Carol and we all fell silent at 11am to show our respect for the fallen heroes of war, who gave their lives in conflict, which was a very poignant moment for all.
