International Museum Day

Although many public spaces have now started reopening again including museums, we are still unable to visit in large groups, so we decided to celebrate International Museum Day by bringing the museum into Abingdon.

We laid out information fact sheets on subjects such as Ancient Egypt, the Tudor Dynasty, and the Great Fire of London, which many of the people living with us really enjoyed reading though and discussing with each other.  We also provided a kinetic sand archaeology kit, which provided a wonderful sensory experience and satisfaction, as people searched for, and found fossils and bones.

Other residents took pleasure spinning our globe and finding the many different countries which they had previously been lucky enough to visit. Finally, no museum trip would be complete without visiting the “Souvenir Shop”, where our visitors were gifted with notebooks, pens and keyrings as a keepsake of our very first museum event.
