Getting neigh-bourly with Pickles the Pony

We’re so pleased to see the new team at Windsor Court is already getting involved with the community, even months ahead of the opening of this brand new home.

This fantastic luxury Malvern care home currently under construction is on course to be opened this summer, when it will offer five-star care in a stunning setting, with a wealth of facilities, including a bistro and bar, hair salon and cinema which will be to be open to the community as well as those living there.

Zoe Miller has already been hired as the new care home manager, and as well as building her team in the run-up to the launch of Windsor Court, she is already building connections and forging relationships with the local community.

The home has this month made a donation to a local charity called Penny Ha’Penny Horse and Pony Rescue. Here you can see Zoe presenting a cheque to Laura Penny who is trustee of the charity, to support their work feeding and caring for around 100 rescue animals.

Little Pickles, a charming chestnut pony, who stands at about 32 inches at the withers, is set to be a regular visitor to the care home where his visits will form part of the lively social and activities calendar at the new Maria Mallaband home.

Animals are well known for bringing therapeutic benefits; petting and stroking them can reduce blood pressure and alleviate feelings of tension and anxiety. They’re also a great source of fun and happiness!

Laura Penny, a trustee of the Penny Ha’Penny Horse and Pony Rescue said: “It’s wonderful to see how people respond to horses and ponies, and how they respond to them – and Pickles is adorable. He’s the kindest, sweetest pony, very happy and friendly. He loves people and wants to be involved in absolutely everything. He’s going to be so popular with everyone at Windsor Court.

“Every penny we get goes towards the upkeep and care of the animals so we’re so grateful for this generous donation, and looking forward to visiting the new home when it opens.”

The 18-year-old had a troubled start to life resulting in some behaviour difficulties when he arrived with the Penny Ha’Penny rescue eight years ago. But with lots of kindness and care, he has now grown into a calm and affectionate pony, set to be a firm favourite at the care home.

Hopefully he’ll make an appearance at the opening event and be welcomed for many future occasions too to thank everyone at Windsor Court in person for their support.

Now that’s what we call neigh-bourly!
