Easter at Allingham

What a wonderful Easter Season the residents have enjoyed at Allingham House, with so many different activities for everyone to enjoy. One of our mottos is Team Work makes the dream work and once again we put it into practice. I would like to give a big thank you to all the staff, families and members of the community that once again have joined the residents to make this season of the year even more special.

We started the week creating beautiful Easter Cards, staff and residents joined together, allowing their imagination to run free and enjoy colouring and reminiscing together about how they used to celebrate Easter and how much this celebration has changed over the years.

We know how important is yet to be involved with the members of our community not just in the activities with our residents daily but on special occasions too, like festivals, competitions and special celebrations. For that reason this Easter, we have organised particular activities related to this special season of the year, getting involved members of the community.

The residents enjoyed creating beautiful Easter Bonnets, that they wore on Thursday in the Easter Parade. We meet the children from the nursery next door that day, we exchanged Easter Art and crafts created by the residents with the children and vice versa. It was also the perfect opportunity to have a good time, chatting with them and singing our favourite songs altogether.

Carry on with Easter traditions the residents enjoyed Easter Egg Hunting in the garden, wearing their special glasses and following the indications the residents enjoyed the warm weather collecting Easter Eggs in their special Easter Egg-shaped basket.

Furthermore, we know how important it is to attend to the spiritual necessities of our residents not just every week but at special times of the year like Easter. For that reason, Joan and Vivienne two of the ladies from the Timperley Parish came to hold a beautiful service on Good Friday. Also, we wanted to get them involved in the Easter competition and for that reason, we asked her to create a special Easter Egg that exemplifies the meaning of Easter. Joan did it! She created three astonishing Easter Eggs melting the origins of the Easter in a shape of a beautiful Easter Egg using materials like purple velvet, crystal glass and golden looking materials. Inside of every Egg is a representation of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. The residents loved them.

Without doubts, one of the most important activities that took place during Easter at Allingham House was the Easter Baking competition between the different care homes. As I said before one of our Mottos is teamwork makes the dream work. We have put the best of ourselves into this competition to create amazing things, on the particular case of the baking competition we have baked an Easter Dream in Dark & White Chocolate. Staff from different departments, residents and always with the kitchen staff help, we created this beautiful and at the same time delicious Easter Dream Chocolate. Melting the different kinds of chocolates and creating everything from the scratches we wanted to bake something that illustrates the meaning of Easter, so What better than a Chocolate Nest with Chocolate Eggs. It was a handcrafted project that involved everyone. The lifestyle team and kitchen staff melted the white chocolate in the moulds and put them in the fridge until they were ready to be decorated by the residents and hospitality staff. They enjoyed adding edible flowers to make them look even more beautiful and delicious. Finally, big applause to one of our girls from laundry Sadaf, who baked a beautiful chocolate nest to hold the Easter Eggs and guided us through the process.

This year we had a very special twist in the traditional Easter Eggs Decoration. We know how important music is for our residents and for that reason we made an activity that joined together, Easter, Music and creativity. The result it was the creation of Musical Easter Eggs by our residents. They enjoyed decorating Easter Eggs and inside each one of them, they placed different little bells, creating the perfect instrument to play in any of our music-related activities like Sing and Be Happy, Karaoke, etcetera.

We also created a very special place where everyone could enjoy the creativity of our residents, staff and members of the community. Easter Cards, Easter Bonnets and Easter Musical Eggs (just to name a few) were displayed in our conservatory, where everyone could enjoy all the beautiful pieces created for this very special time of the year.

Last but not least, the residents enjoyed the visit of Mr Easter Who brought them Easter Eggs for everyone.
