The Cranleigh Poppy Appeal

Cedar Court Care Home was honoured to host The Cranleigh Poppy Appeal launch on Monday 25th October.   Trevor Cobby of the British Legion was in attendance together with Lance Corporal Tweddie-Smith and Private High from the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment, “The Tigers”.

This year marks a hundred years of the poppy appeal and the fantastic work it does.

The residents joined together for a short remembrance service lead by Michael Gains from the Lifestyle Team.  We sang hymns and remembered our loves ones, and those fallen in armed conflict across the world.  Trevor spoke about the work of the legion and its links with young and old. Many of the residents served in the forces or had family who have been, and in some cases are still current serving members.  This makes the poppy appeal close to their hearts.

Our Home Manager Nimmy Markson presented one of our wreathes to Trevor Cobby of the British Legion who said he would request that one of the local army cadets lay the wreath at the War Memorial in Cranleigh on Remembrance Day.  A second wreath was presented to Lance Corporal Tweddie Smith on the home’s behalf to be laid at the Tigers Parade and to thank the Prince of Wales Royal Regiment for its wonderful support to the home and the deeds of its soldiers.
