Christmas at Allingham

Christmas as we know, is the most festive season of the year and this competition allowed us to make it even more festive and special for our residents, getting involved not just our residents, but the staff and the members of our community.

First of all, I would like to thank our staff who have given and carry on giving the best of themselves to make a very special Christmas season, collaborating in all the activities that we have organised, from decorating hand by hand with our residents our Allingham House Christmas Tree to Jumper Day, when they wore a Christmas top or a jumper and posed very proud with our Christmas decoration in our reception area.

The reception area as well has been the place chosen to display the most special Christmas Tree. Allingham House Christmas Tree. What it makes very special about this Christmas Tree, it's that it has been decorated with handmade ornaments made for our residents and the members of the community that collaborate with us through the rest of the year.

Our residents were the main protagonist who left their imagination run free to create this very special decoration. Some of them decided to create the traditional Christmas Bubbles with different materials and technics like painting.

Also, for some of them who could not paint, we had stamped with Christmas motives, an easier way to create Christmas decorations. The most important thing for us was to create a self-centred activity, adapting the activity to the different capacities of our residents, making more inclusive and enjoyable the activity and the collaboration of our residents to create the Allingham House Christmas Tree.

Another great example of these self-centred activities that we have developed during these weeks is the creation for one of our residents of beautiful Christmas Bells made by recycling materials.

Furthermore, I would like to thank the ladies from the Timperley Parish and the children from the nursery Bright Horizons also in Timperley, who with their patience and dedication have collaborated to create this very special and unique Christmas Tree, donating decorations made by themselves and can be seen in our Allingham House Christmas Tree.

As I said before, the residents did not just enjoy creating the Christmas decoration but decorating and creating hand by hand with the staff, our Allingham House Christmas Tree, while they were listening and singing the most famous Christmas Carols.

Finally, once we had created the most special Christmas Tree indoors, we wanted to create a very special Christmas decoration outdoors, so everyone could enjoy our Christmas Spirit.

Two beautiful light reindeers wearing their red boots as well as the Pole Bear and Snowman with their respective Christmas trees are welcome everyone to Allingham House from the bottom to the top.

As a resume, I would like to say that the competition has been a great opportunity for the residents not just to express themselves creatively, create a singular and unique Christmas Tree but reminisce about this very special season of the year. For sure we will repeat the experience this year due to the great benefits that we have observed in our residents.
