Chit Chat Club at White Rose Lodge
Here at White Rose Lodge we have introduced a monthly Chit Chat Club to replace a Committee Meeting. This offers residents a space with an opportunity to talk and get to know each other without an agenda alongside refreshments of their choice. At the previous meeting we offered cheese and crackers as a resident had verbalised they would like more cheese variety. At the end of the meeting we asked residents if there was something they would like to eat on the next occasion we gather. It was a group decision that the residents would like chocolate eclairs.
With the new club we decided to have a new venue. We chose the library due to the therapeutic nature of the room. This is due to the beautiful sea views and comfortable chairs in a cosy, warm quiet and private room. A resident remarked they thought it was a wonderful idea to change the venue as it was smaller, there was no other noise and it felt like a family get together. Another verbalised that the atmosphere felt good. As a participant observing the space and residents, it felt very positive and individuals appeared to feel comfortable to freely talk amongst themselves and in a group. There were many smiles, laughter, memories and experiences shared. Due to the positive outcome of the Chit Chat Club we aim to continue the club for as long as the residents find enjoyment from it.
