Burns Night in Jersey
Pinewood celebrating Burns Night the Jersey way.
Pinewood Care Home in St Helier recently hosted a vibrant and memorable celebration of Burns Night, a special occasion that honors the life and legacy of Scottish poet Robert Burns. The event brought together residents, staff, and families to enjoy the rich traditions of Scottish culture. The people that live with us were treated to a traditional Scottish feast, with haggis, neeps, and tatties taking center stage. The comforting, hearty meal was a hit with everyone, along with the amazing decorations the staff had organised.
Throughout the evening, the residents were immersed in the timeless poetry of Robert Burns. Staff members recited famous works, including "Address to a Haggis," which added a touch of humor and nostalgia to the event thanks to the head chef. The readings were followed by traditional Scottish music, with lively tunes creating a joyful mood. Some residents even joined in for a bit of Scottish dancing.
A truly fantastic Burns Night we will all remember.
