Bridlington Christmas Tree Trail
This year the local community of Bridlington are coming together creatively for their first Christmas Tree Trail in the theme of ‘Reduce-Reuse-Recycle’. The idea is for people in the local community to use their creativity to produce a Christmas tree using recycled materials. You can either completely make the Christmas tree out of recycled materials or get a Christmas tree and decorate it with recycled materials. Once you have created your Christmas Tree you then display it somewhere that passers by can see it. Then sign up for your home or place of work to be pinpointed onto the map for the local community to be able to walk along the Christmas Tree Trail and see your tree.
This year we decided to completely make our Christmas tree out of recycled materials. We have gathered numerous plastic plant pots and decided that this would be the ideal material to use to stack up in the shape of a Christmas Tree. We then used old newspapers to create a paper chain to act as the tinsel to wrap around the tree. We finished with using old Christmas cards to cut our shapes to make baubles. Alongside drawing festive images in the shape of baubles and the star and angel for the top.
Overall the residents appeared to enjoy the activity together. We completed this activity in our first advent Sunday coffee morning whilst enjoying mince pies and listening to residents favourite hymns.
