Debora Cogodda – Home Manager, Bridge House
Studying - Leader in Adult Care Level 5
"I have worked with MMCG now for 3 years.
I enrolled on my apprenticeship while I was still Deputy Manager, I anticipated that this would prepare me for a future role as a Home Manager. Whilst on programme I had the opportunity to manage Bridge House so I completed my apprenticeship whilst in a Home Manager role. The apprenticeship gave me the opportunity to use really vivid and real examples of situations that I was working through in my role, it helped me manage situations with residents, colleagues and external agencies.
Trying to juggle everything with my new role and working through an apprenticeship did prove a challenge at times, along with home life. But it is definitely one of my biggest achievements and I am really proud of myself and so glad I stuck with it. The apprenticeship has really set me up for success."
Charlotte Torrance – Learning & Development, Head Office
Senior Learning & Development Administrator, worked at MMCG for 4 years
Studying - Business Administrator Level 3
"My apprenticeship has helped me gain a promotion within my team, seeing me step into a Senior Role. It’s also helped me learn skills that I can apply in my role, such as creating a project to the beginning to the end and SWOT analysis. Most of all it’s helped me with confidence, it’s pushed me to do things out of my comfort zone and excel within my role. The apprenticeship also helped me get over my maths anxiety, passing my maths exam at 30 years old was an achievement I am really proud of!
I am excited to be instrumental in the creation of MMCG’s Leadership Academy and I am looking forward to supporting other people’s development as well as my own."
Karen Wilson – Risk & Compliance, Head Office Governance Support Officer
Worked at MMCG over 9 years
Studying - Lead Practitioner in Adult Care Level 4
"Whilst working in the homes I was unable to gain funding for qualifications I initially wanted to do because I already had previous qualifications, I felt that I needed a recognised formal qualification, so I applied for Lead Practitioner in Adult Care Level 4.
I felt that I was helping myself achieve more and in-turn helping the business. The qualification helped me move from the homes into a central support role and I moved into the internal audit team working to support multiple homes across the business with their compliance.
I really wanted to prove to myself that I could still gain a recognised qualification, I completed with distinction, and I was extremely proud of myself. I did it!
The programme went well, it was hard at times as I was getting used to studying again, it was a long time since I had completed studies.
I have progressed my career at MMCG, I originally worked as a Business Administrator at one of our homes, I then progressed to Internal Audit Support and I am now in my current role of Governance Support Officer."
Joana Amoako – Care Assistant, Eltandia
Studying - Lead Adult Care Worker Level 3
"My journey on my apprenticeship was a success, I came out with a Distinction and a Pass in Functional skills Mathematics and English Language level 2, which is a requirement to study nursing in university. My journey for completing the qualification was very smooth, I got all the support I needed from the company, my manager and my team leader. I acquired so much knowledge with this apprenticeship.
My dream is to become a nurse, the course has paved the way for me to work towards my dream, I am currently working towards becoming an adult nurse and the apprenticeship has been fundamental in this career Journey I have chosen.
I have worked with MMCG for almost four years, I am still working as a Healthcare Assistant. I want to thank MMCG for the opportunity they have given me to pursue my dream career as an Adult Nurse. The company has an incoming nurse on the way, and I am excited for my future as a nurse at MMCG!"
