Buckingham House rated ‘Good’ following latest CQC inspection

Buckingham House awarded Good by CQC

Following their October inspection, Buckingham House Care Home is once again rated ‘Good’ across the board, with inspectors having assessed across the ‘Safe’ and ‘Well-Led’ categories.

The inspectors noted ‘people were relaxed in the company of staff’ and they ‘observed lots of smiles, laughter and positive engagement’. Family members of those living in the home expressed their confidence in the care provided, with one commenting that their family member is “definitely kept safe, which gives me peace of mind”.

The ‘Safe’ rating highlights Buckingham House’s commitment to ensuring “people were protected from harm”, that risks were assessed and mitigated and that “there was a good understanding of safeguarding and how to take appropriate action”.

Inspectors also judged the home to be ‘Well-Led’, noting that “people, relatives and staff felt the management team were approachable and had confidence in them to deal with any concerns” and that “staff felt supported by the management team, worked as a team and enjoyed making a positive difference to people.”

During the assessment, CQC inspectors spoke with staff, those living in the home and their relatives, examined records, and observed everyday interactions. Feedback included that “The staff are very good” and that they provided “person-centred care, dignity and respect always”.

In addition to previous inspection grades from a routine inspection in 2019, Buckingham House is rated ‘Good’ across the board, with the CQC finding the home to be ‘Safe’, ‘Effective’, ‘Caring’, ‘Responsive’, and ‘Well-Led.

The inspectors observed that “there were processes in place for the staff team to report any concerns” and that daily meetings with the registered manager or person in charge were “opportunities to share any learning points to prevent harm to people”.

The inspectors also noted that Buckingham house had ““You said we did” display boards reflecting how the service acted on feedback and responded to the needs of those living there.

Courtney Harry, Buckingham House Care Home manager, said:

"We are absolutely thrilled to receive a 'Good' rating across all areas in our recent CQC assessment. This recognition is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our entire team, who consistently strive to provide the best care and support to those living here.

“Our focus has always been on creating a safe, welcoming environment where people feel valued and respected, and it's incredibly rewarding to see that reflected in the feedback. I'm so proud to be part of a team that truly makes a positive difference in the lives of those in our care."
